SMART Group SA Aims to Promote the Advancement of the South African
Electronics Industry through the Education, Training and Notification of its
Members in Surface Mount and Related Assembly Technologies, and by the Promotion
of a Community of Electronics Industry Professionals.
This is to be accomplished by Active Encouragement of Member Inter-activity,
through Meetings, Seminars, Conferences and Publication of Technical
Information.
The SMART Group SA Invites and Requires the Active Participation of all its
Members in these Aims.

In 2006 a series of Lead Free Seminars
were held here in South Africa, supported by the SMART Group in the UK, as a
result of their success and the momentum they generated within the Electronics
Industry a meeting was held on Monday 2nd July 2007at Avnet Kopp offices.
Attending were key players from across the Industry, encompassing Component
Supply, Electronics Design, Manufacturing, Education, Media, Equipment and
Consumables Supply.
This well supported meeting, chaired by Keith Bryant from SMART UK, has lead
to the formation of SMART Group SA.
